Welcome To Bartering In Motion
Are you interested in learning more about bartering or connecting with local small businesses or individuals to trade? You've come to the right place!
Bartering In Motion is a Fort Myers, Florida initiative to connect folks who would like to barter goods or services with one another. We are still in the beginning stages of creating those connections, and we would like your feedback on what you'd like to see in a bartering website and how you'd like to connect to folks.
Some Ideas We've Had
- Monthly get-togethers where folks can bring items or services (IOUs) and trade them live, on the spot, with one another in a fun-filled evening of bartering goodness.
- Have an online message board where you can post what you have and what you want and connect with folks who'd like to trade.
- Have a fully-automated bartering exchange website where you post goods or services for trade, receive barter credit in exchange (BIM Dollars - or, for those with a funny bone, BIM Dough. Get it?) and use that credit to purchase the goods or services of other members. There would be a small fee to join and a small fee per transaction to cover the cost of the website and the IRS reporting requirements for a formal barter exchange.
- Have a broker connect folks looking to trade. Or facilitate smaller transactions through the website and bring a broker in for more complex deals (like 3-way barters or barters with tricky legal implications).
